WE MADE THE DAYNOTE: posted 2-14-09

THERE ARE MOGULS AMONG US

Two years ago, Dale Omori, Diane Suchetka, Mark Naymik and two non-PD employees formed a production company called Burning River Films to produce documentaries. Launched solely as a creative outlet, the group had absolutely no budget and less free time. So for their first project, they decided to think small and local — settling on a quirky look at twins who attend the annual festival in Twinsburg.

Many months and interviews later, the company completed a short
documentary called “Another One of Me,” which features a soundtrack
created by colleague Jon Fobes. And whaddyaknow — it was one of the
several dozen short films that were selected out of 800 entries for next
month's Cleveland International Film Festival.

The festival begins March 19 at Tower City Cinemas. WVIZ-TV will air
the flicks sometime after. Stay tuned to Daynote for screening and
broadcast dates and times.

The Daynote is a daily newsroom communication at The Plain Dealer.

LONG TIME GONE, 1971

Sitting in with Rick's band while I was at OSU — about a year after Iron Horse broke up. I can tell from that A chord with a little-finger B top note that we're playing “Long Time Gone” by Crosby, Still and Nash. How appropriate!

Working down and across: Perry Burgess II, manager and father of two band members; Scott Fargo, equipment manager; Stuart Burgess, organ; me in the middle, lead singer and lead guitar; Scott Goddard, rhythm guitar and vocals; a dozing Rick Tackett, bass; Perry Burgess III, drums.
