See a page with links to a record-smashing 100 Plain Dealer videos with music
in 2011: 98 of them are on cleveland.com; the other two are on Dale Omori's
Vimeo page — The Plain Dealer commercial you've never seen and the SND video.

NOTE: As usual, all music and Web pages done on my own time.

See my Top Ten favorite videos from 2011! Check out the work of our talented
Plain Dealer videographers. Some of these should be entered in contests.

See the handout CD cover with project info. Hear "Becky, You've Got Me Poating" from
the handout CD, which could not be included in the ReverbNation music player above
as it is based on a copyrighted cover song — the only cover song on the entire CD!
"Sweet Bonnie," "Bodies in Motion," "Becky, You've Got Me Poating," and "Just
Cleaned My Bathroom" feature multiple vocal tracks done in my home studio: I mean,
"spare bedroom." No canned backing vocals used! Yes, sometimes I sound like a girl.
The "Poating" song is explained on the actual CD cover below. Check out some
zany CD covers from Bill Lammers. Thanks to Joe Hanak for helping me adjust the audio
levels for the car-stereo version of the handout CD. See fobes.net new graphic!

NOTE: There are many songs on the CD that are not on cleveland.com. There are
many songs on cleveland.com that are not on the CD.

NOTE: Bonus songs included in this virtual CD begin with No. 23, "Pull the String." Check out
"Marcella," moody and right on the edge of screaming feedback; "Throw It in Reverse," with
backward guitar; the cinematic "Judgment Day" follows; then there's "Jazzabilly Redux," a
genre-bending tune; "And Another Thing" inspired by the insane Joel Downey; then comes
"From Heather to Robots," which defies description; and the whimsical "Caton Grabbed
One." And if you're feeling nostalgic for the Clevelend Cooks series, you can drop the
needle on "Chef Boogie."
Play "Gus Farm Boogie" to hear some lap steel* guitar. Or
for something out of this world, kick off the gravity boots and float away with "Bill Neff NASA

Project." See the actual CD cover for more song descriptions.

*PS. Since I don't have a lap steel, I played that part on keyboard, with one hand on the keys and the other hand
on the pitch-bending wheel, spinning it madly to get the lap steel sound. The faux lap steel starts at 52 seconds.
Listen and see if it doesn't sound like an actual lap steel. I think it's a pretty good substitute ... in a pinch.

THANKS to Director Dale Omori for getting my music into the Cleveland International Film Festival
(again) with the award-winning Burning River Films documentary, "The Girlfriends Club,"
produced by Diane Suchetka and Mark Naymik and all the other Burning River Films members.
Still love the recent fashion video featuring "Beat On It" from the SoundBytes3 CD. And let's
not overlook the first-place, award-winning Anthony Sowell series! And thanks to Dale
for a million other things: Dale Omori Rules! Want a super jolt of creativity?
Work with Dale Omori and Andrea Levy on the same project!

THANKS to Dave Andersen and Brian Albrecht for using lots of music in 2011.

THANKS to Mike McIntyre for getting me on the radio by using my songs throughout
his recent one-hour Thanksgiving Day broadcast on WCPN. When I am old and gray I can
tell people, "Mike McIntyre gave me my start in radio!" Wait, I'm already old and gray!
Play "Mike Turkey Day" to hear one of the songs. I think he used "Mike's Fresh Jam," too.

FYI: By using various computer plug-ins and the MIDI keyboard, one can imitate the
sound of almost an infinite number of instruments. You still have to play all the right
notes, of course, but you can sound like an orchestra or string section all by yourself as
is demonstrated on many tracks, including the final selection, "Dudek and Strings." And
with synth plug-ins you can reproduce all kinds of sounds as can be heard in the
Bill Neff selection. Again, you still have to hit the right notes!

DON'T MISS the great work being done by John Soeder! Keep up the good work, John!

FOR THE RECORD: All songs officially copyrighted with Library of Congress. I have more
than 200 copyrighted so far.
All original music except "Poating" — with apologies to Jimi Hendrix.
All guitar and bass, all keyboards and vocals, all drum programming and percussion sequencing,
all mixing and mastering by Jon Fobes. All songs done on my own time, most at home,
a few during lunch at work.
